Recycling Program

Monroe Township residents have access to recycling programs that are offered through the County. Recycling old paint and paint products removes contaminants from entering our waste stream and it also helps to conserve landfill space. Items accepted in the Paint Drop-Off Program include:
There are eight paint drop-off sites in Middlesex County; 2 of the Monthly Schedule:
Directions to South Brunswick (Kingston Lane) for paint drop off: From the North: Take Route 1 South to Major Road (right lane exit). McDonalds will be just beyond the exit on right and a water tower will be on the left. Cross over Route 1 and follow Major Road to the end. Make right onto Kingston Lane. Bear right at the next light into Monmouth Junction Road (also called Rt. 522). Turn right into the Municipal Complex and follow the road past the Municipal Building (on the left) to the Recycling Center (on the right). From the South: Take Route 130 North. Get into the left lane after passing the Turnpike entrance sign and make a left through the center island at a sign for Deans/Dayton. You are now on Georges Road. At the first traffic light (5 way intersection), turn left between Dayton Video and Joy Luck Club Restaurant on Monmouth Junction Road (Route 522). At the next light bear left and turn right into the Municipal Complex. Follow the road past the Municipal Building (on the left) to the Recycling Center (on the right). East Brunswick Reclamation Center, 357 Dunhams Corner Rd. From the North: Take Rt. 18 South to Cranbury Rd. (Rt. 535 South) Bear right at the fork onto Dunhams Corner Rd. and continue for approximately 2.5 miles. The Reclamation Center is on the right, just before Church Lane. Take Rt. 130 North. After passing the sign for the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Facility on the right, bear right onto Old Georges Rd.at the sign for Maple Meade. Pass Church Lane Plaza on the left and turn right onto Church Lane. Follow Church Lane until it ends and turn left onto Dunhams Corner Rd. Reclamation Center is on the left. Take Cranbury/South River Rd. (Rt. 535 North) and turn left onto Dunhams Corner Rd. After passing the Crystal Springs Aquatic Center on the right, look for the Reclamation Center on the left. Middlesex Borough Recycling Center, 1200 Mountain Avenue From the South and East: Take I-287 North to Exit 9 for Highland Park/Bound Brook. Merge right toward Bound Brook onto River Rd. (Rt. 18) and follow to the end. Turn right onto Lincoln Blvd. At the 3rd light, turn left onto Mountain Ave. Continue for about 5 blocks and turn right onto Monroe Ave. (immediately past Middlesex Presbyterian Church.) Continue straight to the Recycling Center, following the one-way signs. Take Rt. 28 (Bound Brook Rd.) west. Once in Middlesex Borough, turn left onto Mountain Ave. (Sharp Rite Saw Sharpening Power Tools on right.) Pass the Municipal Building/Police Headquarters and turn left. Continue straight to the Recycling Center, following the one-way signs. From the North: Take Rt. 1 South or the New Jersey Turnpike South to exit 9 and get on Rt. 18 North. Take Rt. 18 North to New Brunswick and exit at Rt. 27 South/Princeton. Take Rt. 27 South (also called Albany St.) into New Brunswick, making sure that you stay in the left lane as you approach the New Brunswick train station. Continue straight past the train station on Rt. 27/Albany St. which becomes French St. Just before you reach the 8th traffic light, bear left onto Jersey Ave. (at the white clock tower). Take Jersey Ave. for just under 1 mile and turn left into the 2nd driveway for New Brunswick Public Works. Take Rt. 1 North and pass Malouf Buick/Pontiac (in North Brunswick) on the right. Get in the right-hand lane and take the exit for New Brunswick via Jersey Ave. Follow Jersey Ave. for approximately 2.5 miles, going through 1 traffic light. Turn right into the 1st driveway for New Brunswick Public Works. OR: Old Bridge Department of Public Works, Old Bridge Municipal Complex, Rt. 516, Old Bridge: From the North: Follow Rt. 9 South and exit for Rt. 516 east towards Matawan. Merge onto Rt. 516 east and travel less than ¼ of a mile and turn left into the Municipal Complex. Signs will be posted. Take Rt. 18 south into East Brunswick, passing Brunswick Square Mall on the right. Take the exit for Matawan/Rt. 516 East. Travel on Rt. 516 east for approximately 3 miles. After passing the interchange for Rt. 9, travel less than ¼ mile and turn left into the Municipal Complex. Signs will be posted. From I-287: Take Rt. 287 North to the Durham Ave./South Plainfield exit. At the bottom of the exit ramp, bear right and merge onto Durham Ave. Bear right at the 2nd light and go over the bridge (you are now on Hamilton Ave.) Continue straight until the next light and turn right (right turn only lane) onto Belmont Ave. Continue for just under a ½ mile and turn right opposite the Public Works Department onto Kenneth Ave. Continue on Kenneth Ave. past the dead end sign on the right and the James W. Conroy Memorial Field on the left. The Recycling Center is on the right. Take Rt. 28 to Rt. 529 South (Washington Ave.) Continue for about 1 mile, crossing over New Market Pond, and turn left onto Lakeview Ave. (which turns into new Market Ave.) At the 4th light, turn right onto Hamilton Blvd. Follow Hamilton Blvd. to the next light and turn left onto Belmont Ave. Continue for just under ½ mile and turn right opposite the Public Works Department onto Kenneth Ave. Continue on Kenneth Ave. past the dead end sign on the right and the James W. Conroy Memorial Field on the left. The Recycling Center is on the right. From the South and West: Take either Rt. 1 North to Rt. 287 South, or the N.J. Turnpike North to exit 10, and get onto Rt. 440 North headed towards Staten Island. Take the exit marked Smith St./Industrial Ave./Fords. Follow the signs for Smith St., bearing left towards Keasbey. Go through 1 light, stay in the right lane and go under the bridge. Turn right at the sign for the Woodbridge Municipal Service Center. Go down the hill towards the river and turn right to the Public Works yard. See guard for unloading information. Take Rt. 9 North to Rt. 35 North. Stay in the right land following signs for Rt. 35 North and go around the circle. Stay right and take the Rt. 35 Victory bridge across the river. Turn left at the 1st light onto Smith St. Continue for just under 1 mile and stay in the left lane. Just after passing under the bridges, take the left lane U-turn and turn right at the sign for the Woodbridge Municipal Service Center. Go down the hill towards the river and turn right to the Public Works yard. See guard for unloading information. HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS ITEMS All collection times are from 8:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M. Residents with paint related items only should refer to our paint drop off program (listed above). Residents bringing asbestos-containing material must pre-register; call for details.
