11195MESSAGE FROM MAYOR TAMBURRO:

“Today’s report reveals the stark reality that COVID-19 has not released its grip on our lives.  The summer gave us some reprieve, but those days sadly are now over.  We are back to positive-case levels that rival those in the beginning of the pandemic.  While death rates aren’t at the same levels as the early spring, we are seeing alarming trends in new positive cases throughout the state, county and municipality.  We must not be complacent.  I implore everyone to do their part:  wear masks, maintain 6 ft of social distance, wash hands regularly, avoid indoor gatherings and get your flu shot.  As you plan your Thanksgiving celebrations, please avoid indoor gatherings with extended family and friends.  Adhere to the guidelines set forth by the CDC and NJDOH.  If you must gather, please move outside wearing proper PPE.”

MESSAGE FROM GOVERNOR MURPHY:

This second wave is without question upon us.  Our numbers have gone up dramatically, whether it’s new cases, hospitalizations, our positivity rate, everything is going in the wrong direction.  Wear a mask. Social distance. Stay safe,” said Governor Murphy.  “As cases of COVID-19 increase across the country and in our state, we must take all measures necessary to stop the spread.  We must come together as a state to once again beat back this deadly virus and to save lives.”  Governor Murphy’s cited 3,000 to 3,800 cases per day now, compared to a peak of 4,300 in the spring.  “We’re getting into a neighborhood that is extremely concerning.”
