The Monroe Township Public Works Department isn’t the same “old road department.” Aside from taking care of its town’s roadways via sweeping, snow removal, re-surfacing of roads and road repairs, the Public Works Department manages a variety of responsibilities, and the Department is staffed with highly skilled and certified professionals.

  • Our 10  buildings/grounds employees are responsible for maintaining The Senior CenterThe LibraryThe Community CenterThe Municipal Complex, and The Police Department.
  • Roadside/township property mowing.
  • Bulk waste pickup is held from Spring to Fall, which offers residents a once-a-year bulky waste pickup free of charge.
  • Stormwater Management- Consists of maintaining and repairing stormwater catch basins and retention/detention ponds. This includes actual infrastructure, fountain maintenance and fence repairs.
  • The Municipal garage has 4 full-time mechanics who maintain DPW’s fleet along with Police, First Aid, Transportation, M.T.U.D., and Construction vehicles.
  • Our Sign Division has a state-of-the-art sign machine that help keep us in compliance with state safety/ traffic regulations. They also letter our municipal fleet vehicles.
  • We operate the Monroe Township Recycling Drop-off center and coordinate other recycling with the MCIA. We work with NJ Clean Communities Council to educate and implement their programs. Nearly all year round, we have crews going through the whole town picking up grass bags, leaf bags, yard debris, and roadside clean-up.
  • Our department is always there to respond to township emergencies and disasters. Many of our crew are CPR/AED certified.
