Hydrant Flushing

The Monroe Township Utility Department (MTUD) will soon be begining the Utility’s annual unidirectional hydrant flushing (UDF) program. This program strategically flushes fire hydrants throughout the Township in a singular direction to remove accumulated mineral deposits in water mains and comply with NJDEP regulations.  Please note that the rate of progress is directly affected by variables and conditions found as the crews move through the Township.

This process could result in discolored/ cloudy water or low pressure during and immediately following the daily flushing. If you experience discolored water, open the cold-water faucet at the lowest point in the home/building and allow the water to run until it clears. Please keep in mind that discolored water could occur at any time during the flushing period but more likely when water mains are flushed in your neighborhood.

A schedule of developments and roads will be posted on this page and updated in regular intervals until the Flushing Program has been completed. Please check back here for any and all updates regarding the MTUD's UDF program.
