Mayor Dalina Introduces Bi-Monthly Municipal Paper Shredding Program Exclusively for Residents Conveniently on Saturday

New municipal paper shredding program complements county program

MONROE TOWNSHIP – April 24, 2024– Monroe Township Mayor Stephen Dalina is pleased to announce that the Department of Public Works (DPW) Recycling Center, located at 76 Gravel Hill Spotswood Road, will offer paper shredding services on the second Saturday of the months of May, July, September and November.

The program is funded through the Clean Communities grant awards received by the Township from the state Department of Environmental Protection’s (NJDEP) Solid Waste Division.

“This initiative aims to provide residents with a convenient and environmentally responsible solution for disposing of old confidential files on a Saturday,” said Monroe Township Mayor Stephen Dalina. “Our goal was to complement the existing paper shredding program offered by Middlesex County by providing these services on a day that is most convenient to the majority of our residents.”

Beginning Saturday, May 11, residents will have the opportunity to safely and securely dispose of confidential documents from 8:00 AM to Noon, rain or shine, until the truck is full. This program is being offered exclusively to Monroe residents and proof of address will be required. No business materials will be accepted.

Materials must be in a manageable container such as a box, tote or crate and there is a maximum of five (5) containers per vehicle. No plastic bags will be accepted. There is no need to remove paper clips or staples. Residents are advised not to bring newspapers, magazines, hardcover books, junk mail, photographs, x-rays, CDs, shredded paper or garbage. Loads containing unacceptable items may be rejected. Residents must remain in their vehicles at all times. Please have materials in the trunk, cargo area or truck bed, easily accessible to DPW staff who will remove materials from the vehicle.
